Gary; is your firewall fabricated from galvanizedsheet metal? I like the look of it on older planes.Ernie Moreno's airplane has a galvanized firewall. Not sure how it works out weight-wise to the otherchoices; I made the new firewall on 41CC from stainlessand while it's very attractive, it shows every tinyoil smudge and fingerprint.Oscar ZunigaAir Camper NX41CCSan Antonio, TXmailto: taildrags(at)hotmail.comwebsite at http://www.flysquirrel.net ________________________________________________________________________________

Oscar,Yes, it is galvanized. If I had more money, or if I wasn't so frugal-minded(thanks, Dad), I might have sprung for SS. This material was left over froman abandoned 601 project. I thought it would be a chore to shape it, as allthe sheet metal work I have done has been with aluminum. The process I used was exactly like making aluminum ribs.I was especially, and pleasantly, surprised at how easy galvanized bends!!Gary BootheCool, Ca.PietenpolWW Corvair Conversion, mountedTail done, Fuselage on gear(15 ribs down.)-----Original Message-----
