Welcome Dale! And congratulations on your airplane!I'm pretty new to Brodhead myself (second trip this year), so I'll let one of theveterans fill you in on how to best experience the magic. I believe that thereare several new airplanes planning to attend this year, which ought to begreat. We (my family and I) were fortunate to make it last year and had a reallygreat time. I will say this... while most of the group are very hospitable and civilized, thereare a few unruly, sneaky and salty sorts among us. I won't name any names, but one real shady character rhymes with "john recine"... if you get any correspondencefrom someone with a name that sounds like "john recine"... hide yourbeer, your food and your valuables. [Wink] We sure do look forward to meeting you, and getting an eyeball on your airplane!--------Mark ChouinardFinishing up Wings - Working on Center SectionRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Mon, 28 Jun 2010 09:53:41 -0400

You walked rightinto my trap. Progress on the rebuild is coming along well. Big milestone today, justuncrated my recently purchased 0-200!! Has 250hrs on it and is firewallforward from a 150. Looks pretty good. The compression supposedly is good,we'll double ck here, but so far so good. Now have to build the enginemount.Just heard from Don that the Woodwork is all done on the wings and he'sgetting ready to re-cover soon.So things are moving forward which is very promising. Maybe next spring? She's going to have a very different look from the old "Ford" look. I thinkI'm going after the 1930's British look since I won't have that beautifulFord up front.Douwe________________________________________________________________________________Date: Mon, 28 Jun 2010 14:03:48 -0500Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: my new engine arrived!

Jack,The comments provided are all good ones especially from those that have flyingairplanes. As said before the panel layout is a personal preference. I would add this. Go to the aviation magazines and cut out or copy pictures ofactual instrument faces and place them in the locations you have selected. Then get some seat time, get in and make whirring noises, lean left and right, look out over the nose and make a landing or two while continuing a scan of theinstruments. Try to imagine some unusual attitudes, a snap roll or loop andfigure out what information you are going to need to make a safe recovery. Putthe plane in 3 point and level flight attitude and see what difference it makes.Lastly be sure to log your time and count your landings.Jon Coxwell--------Jon Coxwell GN-1 BuilderRecycle and preserve the planetRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Newby coming to Brodhead

OK John and Mark, I can tell I've done got myself mixed up with a fun bunch. John, my wife, Cheryl just isn't an aviation enthusiast, so won't even be coming, and yet she insists on restricting my dating life, so yes. As far as I'm concerned, you can have the women though I think they may have something to sayabout it all. As for Brodhead, I can't wait, but I've got to refresh my crosscountry navigarion skills.--------Dale McCleskeyRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Tue, 29 Jun 2010 11:04:16 -0500
