Pietenpol-List: wing tank mounting ideas

Merry Christmas everyone; trying to figure on the best way to fasten an aluminum fuel tank to the centersection. Are builders using tabs that go across top of spars? If so, are cutouts madein the leading edge ply to access the nut, bolt, screw that would be used? Are straps being used? I think i'm leaning this way, having the strap go aroundboth spars and tighten the two ends on the aft side of the aft spar. what do you think, any better ideas to consider? pics would be great also. I used stainless steel straps under the tank, as per Tony Bingelis.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----

In the spirit of Christmas, my tank mounting went as follows. I have a 3 ft. centersection as per Bill Rewey. My tank is welded aluminum with 15 gal. cap.I purchased from ACS the rubber anti-chafe channel that fits a 1 in. steel strap.Bought 72 in. lenths and cut in half resulting in two 36 in. straps. Ibent the straps around the tank, fore and aft, and bent the ends 90 deg. andwelded on gussets, drilled and bolted thru the ledgers that are secured to thelower portion of the spars and support the tank. Pics attached.--------Robert CaldwellRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/dsc0 ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: wing tank mounting ideas
