Why not nylon? Readily available at Lowe's, low friction, and reasonably durable.Or you could just go with a standard AN steel washer. You're activatingthe brakes with your legs, which have a great amount of strength, so frictionisn't really a factor. And if the pedals have return springs, friction shouldn'tbe a factor in pedal return either. He never mentioned even once about there being any hazard connected with sharpening the 2% thoriated tungsten.
