Pietenpol-List: a view from the cockpit

Subject: Pietenpol-List: a view from the cockpitHere's video I took while strafing a harvested field south of Cleveland a while back and then some views fromabout 400 feet and 70 mph. The wind noise in the mic is annoying as heck so I prefer to turn the sound almostdown but thank God I didn't put music to this as so many people love to do with airplane videos. To me if I'm watchingan airplane video I don't want to hear Danger Zone or Ice Ice Baby....I'd rather hear the airplane engine.Mike C.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_GZLHNU ... ______Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2013 19:17:55 +0000 (UTC)

Yes, welcome to the group, Ken.Brodhead is a unique experience, almost like a step back in time. It is very muchmore laid back than the typical aviation event (like airshows, or Oshkosh),and with a much higher boiled fish content (don't ask - you don't want to know).Come prepared for a thunderstorm - there seems to be one almost every year, but they usually happen in the middle of the night.Bill C.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Hi Ken,Welcome. I would be happy to give you a ride in a real Pietenpol (Model A) but you need to not be shy and get in line quick. Only other requirement is be under 180 lbs. So you have plenty of time to diet.Dan HelsperPuryear, TNPS. I always mentally add 10 lbs. to what the man "says", so be prepared.-----Original Message-----

I had the same experience at my first Brodhead =93 I=99ve never seen so many 80+ year old men trailing oxygen bottles (I call them =9COxygenarians=9D), and when I told them I was building a Pietenpol they just turned and walked away. All except Bill Rewey, who was a real gem and spent quite a while talking with me, and giving good advice. Thankfully, by the time I finished mine and flew it there the atmosphere had changed completely and it=99s been a very friendly and fun place ever since.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia _____

and that is what it's all about!! The reason I am passionate about working withcadets in Civil air patrol is because I am afraid this generation of young peopleis going to start believing that Nintendo is the real thing. Every time Isee one of our cadets get there first ride in a glider or powered airplane, thereface tells the whole story.
