Tools,The funny thing is that the major complaint to using PLB as an alternative to ELTis the fact that they are not triggered by the force of a crash and no signalis sent out. The are not triggered by crash forces because THEY ARE WORKINGALL THE TIME!! all someone has to do is notice that the "breadcrumbs" the PLBis leaving are all in the same place and that it would be a logical assumptionthat the PLB is no longer moving. Some software geek (if they haven't alreadydone it) could write software that would do just that- once the breadcrumbsstart being left in the same place a call is made to find out if the person issafe. No answer, then send someone out to the site. The exact site, because ithas already sent multiple GPS position reports (breadcrumbs). DUH!I will bet you that there would be fewer false messages with an approved PLB system, than there already are with the 121.5 system. How many times have you heardan ELT on Guard while flying? Almost every leg, it seems, domestically.Just my $.02--------Semper Fi,Terry HandAthens, GARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Model A RPM
