That's it. That's why we love these old airplanes. They are time machines ofthe best sort... they take you back to a place and time that are just like whatyou describe, every time they leave the ground.Other than the reference to a video, you could have told this story in 1929. Myguess is that some folks in Cherry Grove, Minnesota did, said, and felt thesame things you did.Well, OK... it could be argued that the modern trampoline wasn't built until 1936,so maybe I used a little too much artistic license there ;o)--------Oscar ZunigaMedford, ORAir Camper NX41CC "Scout"A75 powerRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Progress this Weekend

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Re: How many of you are building/have built in your2 car garage UNCLASSIFIEDI just pulled the tail off the plane and moved my fuselage into my one car garagefrom my hangar. The hangar is 35 minutes away, So I can get a lot more donein my garage. Having said that, I am going to have to do a lot of reorganizingto get some work room in the garage. What seemed a resonable setup before isnow far too tight and cluttered. I do have the ability to set up a shade canopy and tables out front and do somework outside. I can also move some items to a small storage area.Wings and tail will stay at the airport. The plan is to finish the fuselage, bringin the tail in, paint it and attach it. Then I will take the fuse and tailfeathers back out and bring in the wings. Final assembly will be done at theairport. Then I will figure out how to keep two planes in a one plane hangar. Motorcyclejacks and such may be involved in the answer. A bigger battle is clearing my Personal schedule. The wife and kids are supportingthe Pietenpol fix. They often help on little tasks. I have decided to picklemy Vtail Bonanza until the Piet flys. That means no flying for me. I will then get recurrent in a tail dragger and will get the Pietenpol up and flying. Then I can concentrate on some long term projects I want to do on my Bonanza andgetting an annual inspection. At that point, I will have a pretty full stable. A fun, cheap, low and slow planeto fly often, and a cross country machine that carries 4. Just saw a post from Steve's wife, Brittney... she says they are ok too. Listeningto the news and they are saying 51 dead... 20 are children. Official onthe phone says that there are 40 more deceased being brought in... no count onchildren or adults... and they expect the number to continue to rise. Did you do the center section per the std plans. I have been curious about theplans that Keri Ann Price sells for her 3 pc. wing mod. I wonder how they differfrom the std plans.--------Joe PringleAtlanta, GARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

I made my center-section per the original 3-piece wing drawing. This was before I realized it could be made larger to accomodate a larger fuel tank or storage space. I would have made the CS spars longer but leaving the vertical strut and pulley fittings at the same place. The diagonal strut fittings would move out to the ends of the spars. It would take a little redesign of the metal fittings but it would be worth it. The length of the wing panels could be modified to make the total wing length the same. There are some pictures some where (probably in the West Coast Piet section of pictures) that show just what I mean. Someone has already done this so you would not be breaking new ground. I started out in an old detached 2-car garage, that I had to rebuild before I could start building the Piet. Then it moved to a semi truck trailer, then an old milking barn. When my wife and I started looking at houses in 2007, she swears that the main thing that swayed me about the house we bought was that it had a 3- car garage. I confess, I did measure to make sure I could put the wings on the Piet in it.Matt PaxtonNX629ML________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: corvair college #24 registration

Sounds like the coroner's office has adjusted the count down to 24... 7 of thoseare children.
