Nice review! Wanted to see it at Oshkosh, but it conflicted with a concert I alsowanted to see, and figured it might be better in a theater anyway.Next question would be whether or not it's "quotable", does it have possible cultstatus in time?Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Non-stick paint for T-88?

Is there such a thing that can be applied over the wooden parts of a rib jig that would prevent the glue from sticking to them?Dan HelsperPuryear, TN________________________________________________________________________________

That stuff is tenacious... it's been sticking to the little plastic protectorson my squeeze clamps (the orange jorgensen's).I was thinking of using wax, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. Of course, that might cause problems with varnishing later...The jig I built has recesses, so the glued joints don't touch the jig. Only builtone rib on it so far, but it worked well.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Non-stick paint for T-88?

What about waxing the jig, Dan? I don't think that the T88 could/would stick toMinwax. Tools might chime in on this one.Just my hip shot thought.--------Semper Fi,Terry HandAthens, GARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Non-stick paint for T-88?

That Kinner is presently in Victoria on Vancouver Island. The owner has the intention of using it for a replica Pitcairn autogyro. I haven't seen him for a while. He built a model BPiet but has changed to an O-200 that he acquired for" a very good price ". I haven't seen Charlie's Piet for sometime either. There's another one floating around theVancouver area from one guy to another that I'd seen afew years ago " in restoration" It had been re-engineeredsomewhat, as they say. :-)Attached are two pics of the Victoria Piet taken some yearsago when he was just into taxi testing. In the second picwe see his efforts getting in. What's missing here?? :-)Also what about Jim Malley's Fiest Piet?ClifI have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches. - Alice Roosevelt Longworth You asked about a Kinner:http://www.oshkosh365.org/saarchive/eaa ... _02_27.pdf> And here's one powered by a Ford Fiesta engine:http://www.oshkosh365.org/saarchive/eaa ... _11_12.pdf>> BC________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Non-stick paint for T-88?

We used cheap Scotch Tape. Not the package tape, but the =BE=94 rolls you usein an office. Just put a short strip under the glue joints. Its thin enoughto let it run up the side if needed. You might need to change every fewribs, so I learned to fold over about 1/16=94 of the end of the strip so youwould have a flap not stuck down to grab for quick removal. This way youcould change them all in about 3 minutes and keep on working.Barry NX973BP

Seriously? I've often thought that a Tailwind might be my second project. Thereare a couple of nice looking examples around these parts that really get methinking about it once in a while. Some that have heard me mention this have asked, "Have you ever tried to get inone?" No, I have not... but that didn't stop me from building a Piet either.Aside from the overall looks and performance, I guess I am under the impressionthat Steve Wittman was a tall fellow and that I could fly whatever he flew...not sure where I got that idea, because looking at photos of him with others, like Pietenpol, it is pretty clear that he was not real tall. Oh well, maybeI'll get to climb in one sometime.--------Mark ChouinardWings, Center Section and Empannage and Fuse framed up - Working on Landing GearRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2013 13:34:57 -0600Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Non-stick paint for T-88?

Just finished up my Piper L-4 ribs using T-88. Cover the rib jig using a pieceof 3 to 4-mil plastic Polyethylene Sheeting as sold in Home Depot or Lowe's inrolls. The T-88 will not stick to it and it is see through. Very simple andvery low cost.--------Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: New Propeller Arrival

Reading about all the various engines in Pietenpols reminded me of a conversation in a lumber yard in Lake Elmo, MN, in the late 1980s. I was buying marine plywood and hardwood for an engine mount in a Pietenpol and a couple guys in the lumberyard were familiar with the Pietenpol. They new a guy in the Minneapolis-St Paul area who had a Pietenpol with a modified inverted Ford Falcon six cylinder engine. Perhaps someone from the Minneapolis-St Paul area could confirm if this machine actually existed.Ralph in SD________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Non-stick paint for T-88?

This was an idea that I heard here, I used RC plans clear protector. Buy it atany hobby store or on-line stores like Tower Hobby. I stapled it over the ribplans on a backed plywood flat board.Scott--------ScottRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/imgp ... __________
