Hello Good People! While you await your printed copy, here is the latest pdf file to enjoy. My apologies on being even more tardy. I have a useless nephew who took his drug addiction to the next level and decided to become a quadriplegic. Given his immediate family shares the same moral fiber, my wife and I have had to arrange for his short term and long term care over the past couple of months. Lots of distractions. Now back to Pietenpols.-john-________________________________________________________________________________Date: Fri, 6 Jun 2014 12:16:25 -0700 (PDT)

If I understand you correctly, mine failed similarly a few years ago. Possiblya weak part of the design. I repaired and the strengthened with a steel crosspiece running under the fuselage.Sent from an iPhone with a spelling problem> On Jun 6, 2014, at 11:00 PM, "pineymb" wrote:>>> taildrags wrote:>> I believe Jill's airplane is C-GGLU, may have been built by Lloyd Stamp beforeit was Adrian Meilleur's, and there are pictures of it under construction onthe Westcoastpiet site under Adrian's name. My airplane has springs rather than bungees and the spring strutsare self-limiting as to travel. I don't know how much travel the bungee setupshould be limited to.>>> Thought I should intervene and clarify a few things. You are correct Oscar, C-GGLUbelongs to Jill who acquired it this past past winter after realizing myflying days are over due to a serious medical condition. The Piet on WestCoastthat is still under my name is a different one that I worked on years ago thatI picked up as a project. Thankfully no other damage to the plane in part dueto Jill's countless hours on tail draggers including an open cockpit biplaneshe built and flys across the Rockys every year. The bolts that failed werethe ones through the cross strut and ash member and maybe should of been shearbolts or AN4 but I will let the greater minds determined that. Although I stillfind myself monitoring this site, I plan on this being my last post.>> --------> Adrian M> Winnipeg, MB> Canada>>> Read this topic online here:>> http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... 471#424471>>> Attachments:>> http://forums.matronics.com//files/imag ... ______This e-mail message (including any attachments) is for the sole use ofthe intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privilegedinformation. Here is a photo of the sheared bolts - builders here say they've been fatiguedfor a long time as fully rusted and flecks of yellow paint...you can see the shinypart is the only part holding the head onto the bolt - the 3rd bolt's headfell off just as we touched it with the wrench - it looked perfectly A-OK.I've replaced all landing gear bolts today and really impressed with the workmanshipon C-GGLU. Lloyd Stamp did an awesome job of building C-GGLU - the boltsslid in perfectly, no elongated holes, beautifully aligned. The plans show AN3sfor the bracket that holds these cross bars on. We're back in the air tomorrowand i look forward to taking Adrian's Piet to Carmen's fly in breakfast onSunday - it sure is fun to fly!!!JillRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ttachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/2014 ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Landing Gear's AN3 bolts sheared - replaced with AN3or AN4?
