I phoned the guy in Sault Ste. Marie (CF-AQI) a few months ago and he sent mesome pictures. He no longer owns the aircraft. The aircraft is mostly a Pietin style. I believe he said it had a 150 hp engine and it specifally builtfor hauling stuff. I think the wing was 36' span as well. It's also rated at about500 lbs of gross over traditional Piets. I was hoping to use it for a roadmapfor putting mine on floats but no such luck. This winter I am going to try Federal 1500 skis on my A-65 powered Piet andam planning to build a set of MUKTUK wooden floats. These were written up in afew magazine articles. He sizes the plans and sells wood kits for wood floatsup to 1200# gross. At reasonable prices to. I've spoken to a lot of experiencedfloat flyers about my idea and with the A-65 was told it would be a one seaterwith any type of acceptable performance. If you want to look at these floats check out http://www.ultralightfloats.com/ .Shawn Wolk1932 Pietenpol Aircamper (steel fuselage)C-FRAZ (formerly CF-AUK)Winnipeg, MBOn Page 5 of the 3rd. Quarter 1975 INTERNATIONAL PIETENPOLNEWS (IPA) there is a photograph of CF-AQI on floats, at Sault Ste.Marie, Ontario. D. A. Walker was reported as owner and the photois dated September 2, 1972. This aircraft had Piper J-3 landinggear legs which were retained for the float installation. (It could be aGN-1 because of the Cub legs.)The floats appear to be of commercial design and manufacture, andcould be Edo 1320 or slightly smaller. The opposed engine is fullycowled and it is not easy to determine what make or model it was.________________________________________________________________________________

A short while back there was some interest infloat plans. I knew I had something on this somewhere! but, with my huge library i justcouldn't seem to find it. Well, I have.I found it because I'm having to cull my vast collection of magazines. I've rented this housefor 33 years! Now the owner has sold it. Canyou imagine the stuff a painter, sculptor, carver, airplane builder, boat builder, flute and guitarmaker might just save because, you never know, this little piece, this big log, this piece of pipe, angle iron, sheet steel and whatever might justbe the very thing one day??? Oh well, when it'sall done hopefully it will have been a good thing. So, Here it is! Ta Da!Clif"You are the sky.
