Anyone going to the Copperstate Fly-In this year?I'll edit so it won't archive after the fly-in. Replies probably shouldn't archive,as after the fly-in no one will care. I think I am biting the bullet andspending money I don't have so I can go. I might find a job prospect there, younever know.--------HOMEBUILDERWill WORK for SpruceLong flights, smooth air, and soft landings,GliderMike, aka Mike GlasgowRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Bryan - I'll 2nd Jack's comments on the wire wheels on concrete. Like Jack, I'vegot over two DOZEN hours in FBG with several HUNDRED landings on concrete.I've managed landings where the winds were strong enough to require someone tohold the airplane while I got out, during refuel, and when I got back in. Thosewinds were never straight down the runway, of course. The only issue I've had was with broken spokes. Seems I over-tightened them. We've apparently solved the problem by loosening them.I dragged a wingtip one time and the wheels didn't complain.I had the left gear come loose and dangle during a landing. The airplane endedup on top of the wheel. Again, the wheel showed no signs of distress.Drive on, my friend. Enjoy your pretty, tall, spoked wheels.--------Kevin "Axel" PurteeNX899KPAustin/Georgetown, TXRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Copperstate

I got back intothat a little bit after I moved to Utah, but couldn't stand the cold here.--------HOMEBUILDERWill WORK for SpruceLong flights, smooth air, and soft landings,GliderMike, aka Mike GlasgowRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Copperstate

Well I made some phone calls and found out Cleveland bought out Gerdes. got holdof a Rep at Cleveland and he gave me a link to a website with a PDF file ofthe various brakes.looks like I have the parts in the right place. ordered a newO-ring kit from Aircraft Spruce. we'll see if it helps.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Copperstate

I've been going for three years hoping to see a Pietenpol. I'd have to push minesince, as my 6 year old constantly reminds me, I need wings and a propeller.Maybe I'll get lucky and see a flying Piet in Arizona this year.Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Wed, 26 Oct 2011 03:21:29 +0000 (UTC)

Paul,So cool. Now I won't be the only one on the block with one. Make sure that youlube the spar where it pivots. Not a lot but maybe a couple times a year. Ilost the right side of mine in flight about 15 years ago. The spar broke andthere it went. No damage to anything else on the plane and I didn't find thatit was missing until the next pre-flight. It was easy to fix and has been troublefree since. Anybody going to Casa Grande next weekend? I am still hoping to. kinda up to howthe wife gets to feeling. long 800 plus mile ride for her. anyway wonderingwhat kind of turn out there will be in real airplanes like ours. I guess the desertheat isn't real kind to wood structures if they aren't kept indoors. ifI go I'll probably try to take a few parts for th flymart if they have one.RaymondRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________
