I'm about to place an order with Aircraft Spruce and am going to order my coveringfabric. Going through the archives it appears we need about 45 yards. What'sthe difference between Dacron and Ceconite? I'm looking at the 1.8oz Dacronbut it's width is 60 inches. From memory the chord is 60 inches so it mightbe a stretch to get enough coverage? Can some please tell me if I am looking at the correct product. It is part number09-00100 from AS&S.Scotty--------Tamworth, AustraliaBuilding a Corvair Powered Pietenpol Air Camperwww.scottyspietenpol.comFuslage now on its undercarriage! =0AScotty,=0A=0A=0A60" is too narrow. How about this? http://aircraftproducts.wicksaircraft.c ... =0A=0AThis is what I used. "Ceconite" is a trade name, and is in fact dacron polyester. =0A=0A=0ADan Helsper=0ALoensloe Airfield=0APuryear, TN=0A

AC spruce sells 1.87 oz poly fiber for just over $10.00 per yard. It is 72" andwould enable you to lay it up loose (as required for shrinking) on the 60" Pietenpolchord. Hello all,With Vi's passing, yet one more direct link to Bernhard, his times but mostof all to that unique generation. Though I mourn his passing, I also mournthe passing of that generation which in great part possessed qualities whichseem so absent from subsequent ones. Marci and I had the pleasure of visiting him in 2010 as he was putting thefinishing touches on his gorgeous Ford-powered Piet, and though we onlyspent an hour or so, it was memorable.I will miss seeing his face at Brodhead.Douwe________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Vi

Douwe, very true words. This is one of the main reasons I am choosing to builda Pietenpol. Sure there are planes out there faster, roomier, etc...but I can'tthink of any airplane that embodies the spirit of those past generations betterthan the Piet. I hope by building, it will help preserve and pass on thierlegacy, and hopefully a little bit of what made them so special.Jon--------Jon JonesIronton, MORead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Vi Kapler
