BPA Newsletter Ceasing Publication

Post by Pat Weeden »

October 29, 2025

Effective October 30, 2025, the Brodhead Pietenpol Association will cease publication of our quarterly newsletter. BPA members will receive pro-rated refunds of their membership dues over the next few weeks.

Since our peak in 2018 of over 700 members, the BPA membership has dropped to under 250. As such, our pool of resources for new articles and technical information has been greatly diminished. Faced with publishing a limited and lower quality newsletter to our paid membership, along with rising printing and mailing costs, we have decided to stop publishing altogether and issue refunds to those who have supported us this long.

BPA will continue to exist and help put on the annual Brodhead Pietenpol Reunion each July. We will also continue to promote Pietenpol aircraft and answer questions from builders and enthusiasts as best we can. Finally, we expect to make the entirety of the BPA newsletter archive available for free on pietenpols.org in the coming months.

We appreciate your understanding, and also your support over the years.

Man!
Sorry to hear, but I understand.
Thank you for all the hard work that has gone into the newsletters. I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s articles.
Whenever mine showed up in the mailbox I felt as excited as a kid on Christmas.
Any way I’m not sure when my dues expire, but rather than sending out a refund please just donate whatever is on my account to the BPA.
Thanks again for a great publication!

Dan: that's the same thing I told Pat. I know they'll appreciate any other offers to decline any refund.

Ditto. Keep whatever may be left.

Thanks for a quality newsletter for all these years. It's been a wonderful resource.

Thanks, you guys.

We wrestled with the decision for months but didn't really see another option. Maybe we can start it up again someday.

Many people have reached out about refunding the dues. We really didn't have enough money to refund everyone so this helps a lot.

Pat,

I am very sorry to hear this. I hope that the drop in membership is not reflective of the interest in our favorite little airplane. The Brodhead Pietenpol fly-in is the highlight of my summer and I am glad to hear that it will continue. I agree with the others, keep my dues as a donation. Thank you for all your hard work, and for keeping the website up and going.

Pat
Same with me , if there's a refund owed to me just give it to the BPA.
Thanks for everything you've done .
