Pietenpol-List: Cross wire attachments

I'm currently in partnership with a friend building two AirCampers. He's building the wings and tails and I'm building thefuselages. We've been looking at bracing the center section with eithertwo rods running forward or the cross cables. This weekend I made up tabs that go under the bolt heads thatattach the cabane struts to the fuselage and center section and providea place to attach the cables. After installing the cables my friendvoiced concern about the tabs introducing shear under the heads of thebolts so we consulted the plans to see what Bernie had done. We found(1934 improved plans) that the upper fittings to the one piece wing hadtabs designed into the cabane tabs but at the fuselage he did exactlywhat we did (we built three piece wings and the plans didn't have thesetabs). I'd like to hear opinions about using tabs under the heads atall four locations. If you have ideas to consider that favor utilizingthe two rods running down to the engine mounts (we don't have tabs thereeither) other than to facilitate entry/egress I'd be interested.Pietenpolingly,Bill Sayre________________________________________________________________________________
