You can still use aircraft grade spruce and save money. In theconstruction of my Pietenpol I have been using bargain bags of sprucefrom Aircraft Spruce, the cost being fifteen dollars each bag. I havemade all of the ribs, the elevator and the rudder along with the uprights for the fuselage. The boards come in random sizes, and with agood blade on the table saw I have cut what I have needed out of three bags with wood to spare. The only expensive peices were the longerons,1"x1"x14=92, at the cost of 100.00, and the Mahogany aircraft plywood.So far I have spent about $400.00 on this project and have had a greattime working on it.
