Thanks John, for the idea and the photos. I can't help but notice that virtually everyone has sanded down or shaped theirwooden landing gear struts from the top to the bottom brackets. It does lookgood and saves weight. However, I once had an off field landing in a Flybabyand the wooden legs broke like toothpicks. So I haven't done any sanding orshaping with the Piet gear thinking that the amount of weight saved may not beworth the loss of extra strength. Any comments? I shaped mine. I'm working on another pair now. I laminate my legs, using 2 piecesof Douglas Fir. You could also sandwich in a piece of 1/8" plywood butI didn't think it was needed. This pair is going to be extra long, 16" from axle to fuse bottom, to accomidatethe Rotec radial engine.Dick N. ----- Original Message -----
