Gentelman:While flying 920Y today after working on a radiator pin hole. We top off the coolant, and filled the gas tank with 100 LL.The first take off everything was good untill downwind when the water temp rose to about 200 degrees. On base and final the temp droped to 170 degrees. So after the second take off the temp went to 200 again. So we cut the pattern short and landed, while taxi in I started to get some white smoke from the #4 exhaust pipe. After shut down I was only able to add about one cup of coolent. Pulled the # 4 plug and found some water in the cylinder. What are your thoughts? As to jump in temp and smoke.Chet________________________________________________________________________________

Blown head gasket or a cracked block. If you start it up with the radiatorcap off you should be able to feel exhaust pulses coming out the radiator.Brian KrautEngineering Alternatives, Inc.www.engalt.com -----Original Message-----
