The end is a loop that will be secured under a screw. I don'twant to shorten the hinge to reveal enough wire for what I want to do.Someone suggested piano wire. It comes in .090 d. which I believe iswhat the hinge wire is. My only worry is that since it more than likelycomes coiled up, it may be hard to push threw the hinge. I Goggled,"piano hinge" and found some manufacturers who my be able to supplystraight wires longer than the 6' (AS&S sells bare wires that are only6") hinge. I haven't called any of them yet. Hi Jack......I installed my hinges before cutting the aileron free from the wing. It worked out great, BUT, I used the modified strap hinges as per the plans.
