It sure has been quiet on the list. Since I'm preparing for Scout's annual condition inspection=2C I'll mention that there are several excellent versions of inspection checklists for Air Campers out there. Search the archives and you'll find a couple of them=2C then pick the one that best suits you and your airplane. I forget who originated the one that I use=2C but it is quite detailed without being overly nit-picky and it was geared to Continental engines so that was a plus. However=2C it's easy to modify one to suit your airplane and engine setup=2C and you definitely should customize it to your airplane. If you have a drain valve=2C finger strainer=2C test fitting=2C inspection port=2C turnbuckle=2C lube point=2C or other specific thing on your airplane that bears looking at=2C be sure to add it to your checklist.I finally got tired of trying to start my engine in between rain and snow showers and just decided I'd mess with starting it later. I also wondered if maybe I had some unwelcome little visitor somewhere in my electrics that might be goofing up the spark to the engine=2C so I pulled the cowlings off the engine and started there. Nope... no gremlins=3B all wiring is perfectly clean and snug=2C mags haven't budged one micron from when they were timed=2C everything behind the instrument panel looks fine. Must be fuel system =3Bo) Heck=2C I'm almost thinking that Steve Dortch is right and it's got to do with the cold temps. Maybe I should preheat the engine!I pulled off the old cooling eyebrows and test-fitted the new ones and they are *kiss* perfect. I've decided to paint them black to match the engine rocker covers=2C rather than blue like the old ones were. We'll see how it turns out. I'm also working out some little covers to go over the openings in the eyebrows where the ignition wires go to the plugs=2C to keep as much of the cooling air inside. What I have in mind is to cut some patches out of heavy truck tire inner tube=2C shaped to match the openings in the eyebrows=2C with some C-shaped aluminum pieces to clamp them down to the eyebrows with a couple of PK screws. I think if I punch holes in the rubber for the ignition wires=2C the material will have enough stretch to push them over the spark plug connectors without slitting the material=2C making for a very tight fit. Of course=2C neither my A65 nor the A75 ever showed signs of running hot=2C so I don't know why I'm so worried about keeping every little bit of cooling air inside those eyebrows =3Bo)Air filter is off for servicing=3B prop bolts will be re-torqued and safetied=3B oil screen will come off and I'll check for metal in the oil and then replace the crush washer on the oil screen cover=3B we move on. Where's that inspection checklist??!!Oscar ZunigaMedford=2C ORAir Camper NX41CC "Scout"A75 power ________________________________________________________________________________Date: Wed, 26 Dec 2012 08:27:56 -0600Subject: Pietenpol-List: Franklin 60 HP engine available

I have flown one of those Champs (once) in the early 90's. Although it flew, itwasn't very well. They were certified in Minnesota in the winter time. Thatbeing said, I had a hard time keeping the oil temp down out here in California. It wasn't even hot out. Oh, It shook pretty good at lower RPM's too. Ivote for the boat thingy application.Cheers--------Scott LiefeldFlying N11MS since March 1972Steel TubeC-85-12Wire WheelsBrodhead in 1996Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

That could work. Just put a throttle stop on the thing. I was thinking it wouldwork good on a volksplane or hummel bird.--------Scott LiefeldFlying N11MS since March 1972Steel TubeC-85-12Wire WheelsBrodhead in 1996Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Just finished up my motor mount jig except paint. Not real pretty but sturdy and straight. Fabbing the mount should be interesting, I ordered twice the metal needed.
