Hey Folks. My name is Randy Cary and I am new to the site as of Jan 26 of this year. I have been to Lewisburg NC to see Chuck's project and he told me he thought that there were several builders in central NC, near my home and work. If anyone knows of these folks, or they are reading, how about a little information as to how I could contact you. I have the bug and want to do my homework. I enjoy reading the posts daily and am learning a lot! Thanks for the help!RandyRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... 2#393782le, List Admin.________________________________________________________________________________Date: Fri, 8 Feb 2013 03:37:43 -0800 (PST)

Hi Randy,Where in North Carolina are you? Chuck Borsuk is doing a beautiful job building his Pietenpol and cancertainly be a big help to you. In addition, Wayne Schomp in Greensboro ispretty far along, and Don Lane in Oriental has his Model A powered Pietenpolflying now. I know Ted Stone is building one near Topsail Island. I'veseen Don's Piet but have not seen Wayne's or Ted's.If you are near Raleigh or Apex I strongly recommend you join EAA Chapter1114, which meets at Cox Field in Apex the third Saturday morning of eachmonth for a pancake breakfast and usually has interesting speakers. It isthe best EAA Chapter I've ever been a member of, and is very active. Atlast count there were about 120 members and over 30 active projects underconstruction, ranging from Chuck's Pietenpol to a Bearhawk, a Dyke Delta, acouple of Sonexes, a couple of Zodiacs and numerous RV's of various types. There are two Technical Counselors (I am one of them) and we are kept prettybusy.I'm at Smith Mountain lake, Virginia, which is just about 2-1/2 hoursnorthwest of Raleigh by car, or 31 minutes by RV-4 (an hour and a half byPietenpol). I'd be happy to show you my Pietenpol and take you up in it(assuming you are not over 180 lbs) if you want to come up here. I live inour hangar at the airport (W91) while building our house. Matt Paxton isonly about 45 minutes away with his Pietenpol near Lexington, Virginia andmight be able to come here if you come up to Smith Mountain Lake.Good luck with your project. Have you ordered the plans yet? Ifconsidering building a Pietenpol you should acquire and read the four TonyBingelis books, available from EAA. They will teach you nearly everythingyou need to know to build a Pietenpol. You should also join the BPA, theBrodhead Pietenpol Association, as its newsletter also contains valuableinformation specific to building a Pietenpol.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----
