Hello everyone, my name is Mike Rich from the Dallas Tx. area. A little about me. I have researched for the past two years many different aircraft that would be a good build starting with a Piet, and ending with a Piet. I've been in model aviation for 25 years winning some scale contest and have been around full scale aviation since I was a boy with my father and brother. They kept nagging me,"When are you going to get your license and start flying for real" ? Well I finally did, but there's still something missing. I'm not building anything and it's driving me nuts!! So I joined the EAA,BPA ect. and was told this was the place to get advice if I want to build a Pietenpol Air Camper. Everyone in the Piet community has been very nice and down to earth...I love it. I feel I'm finally with the right group of aviators. I have thus far built a mockup from "Flying and Glider" to see how I would fit, bought all the Benglis books ect.So with that said, I need to order plans now. I'm 6'3" at 240 lbs. and I know I will need the longest fuse/ supplemental plans but I'm not sure about the rest. Do I order the whole shabang or just parts of it? Please advise, thanks.st" target=_blank>http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Piet ... ___Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: New Builder just starting

Jim, I'm just down the road from you in Lexington, VA. I'll probably fly my Piet up to Culpeper later in the spring to check on Gene Rambo's progress with his Piet. Hope to meet you and see your airplane. Matt PaxtonNX629MLsubject: Pietenpol-List: Re: satellite tracking devices

Hey Vic, thanks for the advice. I'm suppose to be getting some info in from Bill Rewey as well, any day now on how to tweak the fuselage ect. I've seen your plane on W.C. Piet, outstanding job good routing work. I'm still new to all of this but wouldn't any mods like wider, longer, ect. just add more weight? I'm intrested in makeing some changes as long as I'm not adding a lot to the wing load. The Piet doesn't have a lot to play with. Or am I totally off base?I really like the door idea. Thanks,Mike ----- Original Message -----

Hi mike ,I made my fuse 26 in wide I weigh 200 and I am glad that I did. I also put a door on the right side, it makes ingress a lot easier and to work on the inside.. I have the long fuse and my weight is 825 with a corvair and with the 36 in center section I hold 20 gallons of fuel. Cheers, gardiner mason .Sent from my iPadOn Apr 3, 2013, at 6:07 PM, "Mike Rich" wrote:> Hey Vic, thanks for the advice. Matt, Looking forward to meeting you in the Spring. I spoke briefly with Gene (Iknow him from the Flying Circus). He is planning on going to Brodhead in hisPiet (have you seen the pix on FaceBook?). I'm just a couple of hangar rowsover from his at Culpeper (KCJR).I also heard from Zeke Zechini who keeps his Piet at White Post (3VA7) which isjust about an hour NW of Culpeper.Anyone else got a Piet in the local area (VA, MD, WVA, DE, NC, PA)It would be loads of fun to get together and go get a $100 hamburger somewhere.Has anyone formed a local Piet Owners group?Jim--------Jim McWhorterN687MB (New Owner)Culpeper, VA KCJRRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

I'm a little further from Culpeper than Matt, at Smith Mountain Lake (W91).I've flown my Piet to CJR before, to help Gene work on his. It's about a2-1/2 hour trip.I'm planning on making the trip to Brodhead this summer.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----

Am trying to visualize how this works, so the white metal arm is free to pivotup and back down with the axel and still prevents rotation under braking? Frank figured out the starting problem. I have 2 leads that were not firing atall, a really bad fouled plug (don't know which cyl), and the timing was off.Timing - that's easy. Bottom line - Frank says that the existing mags are reallyold and were at that time designed to be throw-aways - not repairable. So now I am in search of a set of mags for my O-200. Any one know of a set ofnew or used mags for sale? Meanwhile, Chuck loaned me a set of mags out of his Champ (its in rehab) so hecan bring Mr. Sam from PTB to Culpeper. With a little bit of luck, the Piet willbe in my hangar tonight and the journey from FL will finally be over.--------Jim McWhorterN687MB (New Owner)Culpeper, VA KCJRRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Virginia Pietenpols

I swear I posted this.... but can't find it.(1) Who is going to Brodhead this year?(2) Of those of you going to Brodhead - are any of you going to Oshkosh on SundayJuly 28th?(3) If you are not going to Oshkosh - are you planning on heading back to Virginiaon Saturday (27th) or Sunday (28th)?Me, I think I will have had enough camping for one trip - I will most likely beheaded back to VA at the end of Brodhead. I could be convinced to go to Oshkoshfor a day or two - but that would be the max.--------Jim McWhorterN687MB (New Owner)Culpeper, VA KCJRRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Tools,You are correct about changing the Limitations. That airplane has probably gotthe older type of Operating Limitations due to its age. If any changes are made, the local FSDO office WILL provide the plane with the updated version ofthe limitations. This is not necessarily a good thing. Do your homework beforejumping into doing this. Please advise, thanks.> > > > st" target=_blank>http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Pietenpol-List> ttp://forums.matronics.com> =_blank>http://www.matronics.com/contribution> > > > href="http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Piet ... enpol-List> href="http://forums.matronics.com">http://forums.matronics.com> href="http://www.matronics.com/contribution"> ... nics.com/c> > ============================================================================================================================================> ________________________________________________________________________________
